Detailed personal and financial information of a number of U.S. celebrities, politicians and a chief of police has been made public by hackers, TMZ reports.

The victims of the hack include celebrities such as Beyonce, Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian, Ashton Kutcher, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Mel Gibson, as well as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, FBI Director Robert Mueller, Attorney General Eric Holder, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck, former presidential candidate Sarah Palin, and Donal Trump.

The hackers revealed Social Security numbers, addresses, credit card and mortgage information, banking and loan information, and more about most of them. Clinton and Biden were "lucky" that their credit reports haven't been released.

According to the BBC, the (understandably not linked) website contains also unflattering pictures of the aforementioned individuals.

The released information was accompanied by an anti-police message written in Russian.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the matter, but the FBI is still to confirm whether they will get involved.
