It has been confirmed: Starbug of the German Chaos Computer Club has received the crowd-sourced prize for hacking Apple's Touch ID security feature.
Hackers from the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) claim they have bypassed Apple’s Touch ID, the new security feature that uses a sensor embedded in the new iPhone 5S' home button to allow users to authenticate themselves to the device via their fingerprint, by using "easy everyday means".
Two new iPhones have been announced. According to Apple's presentation, the most common way to secure a device is with a passcode and about half of smartphone users do not use a passcode.
We've been hearing for a while now that passwords will soon become a thing of the past and, as it seems now, biometric authentication is likely to take their place.
